Exports have risen once again in the West Midlands with an increase of 7.6% according to HMRC. The West Midlands was home to more than 9,680 exporters, an increase of 2.5 per cent year on year, with an average value of £913,000 per exporter. The largest sector in the West Midlands was machinery and transport at £6.4 billion in the first quarter of 2018. This figure makes up 72 per cent of the £8.8 billion in total exports for the region.
Jaguar Land Rover has also seen an over 20% rise in exports over the last twelve months with over 620,000 cars sold around the world.
International Trade Secretary Liam Fox MP added: "As we continue our path to Brexit, HMRC's latest figures clearly show every part of the UK is making the most of global opportunities as goods exports rise across the country.
"More than 100,000 businesses are expanding their horizons and making the most of the demand for quality British goods.
"For some, this isn't the end of the road but the start to their exporting journey."
