Jon Turner's Five Point Plan for Upper Gornal and Woodsetton
I am delighted to have been selected to stand for the Conservative Party in Upper Gornal & Woodsetton. Having lived in the area for all of my life, I want to make a difference for our community.
I believe that we deserve to have a strong voice on the Council, to stand up for local residents, and that is exactly what I plan to do.
We need to make sure that we get our fair share of spending on road repairs, our parks and streets need to be kept clean, our bin collections need to be maintained and we need to have strong local representatives who will stand up in the interests of our community.
If elected, I promise to work just as hard to represent all residents and make sure our area is recognised and respected.
Even more money for local roads
The Government has given Dudley Council over £1.3 million for road maintenance. The Conservatives in Dudley have pledged to double that figure, meaning that local roads can be repaired and brought back up to standard.
More police on the beat
I am backing the Conservative pledge to put more police on the streets here in Dudley. If the Police and Crime Commissioner agrees to match the funding, this will also double the number of new officers.
Keeping weekly bin collections
We have pledged to protect our weekly bin collections. Labour have routinely tried to reduce our collections, but a Conservative Council will keep essential services protected.
Supporting our high streets
By working together with Andy Street, the Mayor of the West Midlands, we will make sure that our local businesses get the right support and investment.
Protecting our open spaces
There is much to love in our community, but it needs to be taken care of for future generations to enjoy. I will push for more maintenance in our parks and green spaces. I will also continue to campaign for derelict sites to be redeveloped.
